What you can do
- Pick ClearSKY tiles for ordering. They are fast, cloud free mosaics built from multiple scenes with data fusion and machine learning.
- Zoom into minitiles for quick preview and tight control of coverage.
- Use Sentinel-2 tiles (UTM and MGRS) as a familiar reference grid and to search by tile code.
- Save sets, share a link, and send to dashboard to configure your order.
ClearSKY tiles and minitiles
ClearSKY composes cloud free, temporally consistent mosaics by blending multiple satellites and dates with machine learning. In this viewer you work with two units:
- Full tile
- Around 5200 × 5200 pixels. This is your main delivery unit and what you inspect in detail.
- Minitile
- Around 320 × 320 pixels. These are snappy previews that make it cheap to refine boundaries or cover very fragmented areas.
Orders can mix a few full tiles with many minitiles. That is useful when your area of interest crosses tile boundaries or includes small scattered fields.
For a detailed breakdown of how this tiling works, see the dedicated ClearSKY tiles and minitiles guide.
Sentinel-2 in this viewer
Sentinel-2 uses a global UTM and MGRS tiling. Each tile covers roughly 110 × 110 km with bands at 10 m, 20 m, and 60 m. The viewer shows these tiles as a reference grid so you can search by MGRS code and align ClearSKY coverage with existing workflows.
If you want details on how IDs like T33UUU are built, pixel sizes, and tiling rules, see the Sentinel-2 tiles guide.
If you already know the code you need, use Find S2 Tile and then refine the selection with ClearSKY tiles or minitiles.
How to use this viewer
- Open the map and zoom to your area. Use the UTM zone toggles to make tile boundaries clear.
- Click ClearSKY tiles to add them to the sidebar. Right click to drill into minitiles if you need finer control.
- Save your selection (sign in) or Send to Dashboard to configure delivery.
If you prefer polygon based ordering down to 1 km², use polygon.clearsky.vision or start directly on dashboard.clearsky.vision.
Key features in this viewer
- Save and manage sets of tiles and minitiles (requires sign in).
- Share a short lived link or send the set directly to the dashboard to create an order.
- Export CSV with IDs and tile metadata for audit or offline workflows.
- Zone toggles to declutter UTM boundaries while you select tiles.
Sentinel-2 tile codes (MGRS)
Sentinel-2 MGRS IDs such as T33UUU encode the UTM zone, latitude band, and 100 km square. For a thorough breakdown with examples, see the Sentinel-2 tiles guide.
Notes for developers
- Vector data is served via PMTiles for fast static delivery.
- Share links carry a signed token so the dashboard can securely import a saved set.
- For programmatic import, use the share URL with
?raw=1&share=…to fetch JSON with IDs and GUIDs.
FAQ
What is the difference between tiles and minitiles?
Full tiles are delivery sized. Minitiles are small, fast previews that let you fine tune coverage. Use a mix of both to control cost, avoid buying empty area, and cover fragmented fields.
Can I select Sentinel-2 tiles for delivery?
Sentinel-2 tiles are shown for reference and search. ClearSKY delivers its own cloud free fused imagery using ClearSKY tiles and minitiles. See the Sentinel-2 tiles guide for background.
Where do I actually place the order?
Click Send to Dashboard in the viewer or go to dashboard.clearsky.vision/create-order.
